Messy, messy ponies.

Ugh, I have not been in here updating for so long because 1.) I got my wisdom teeth removed, and 2.) it has been perpetual bad weather and snow here in VA for forever. It's been awful.

Today was the first 'nice' day. It was 50 degrees but wet and muddy. The ponies could go out today without blankies, and rolling ensued.

We had lessons at 1300, so Dozer and Cai got about 5 hours outside, which really took the edge off. By the time we had to bring them in though, they were horribly dirty.

Who, me?
Mmmmm, nice and dirty.

Why the long face?

All clean!

Yes! I would like treats!

New Years Riding Resolutions

As another year rolls around, I am reflecting on my main issues with riding from this year, and goals that I can set for myself that are attainable, not ridiculous, like "Become a World Champion!" So here they are, drum roll please!

1.) Don't give up, never, ever give up.

2.) The horses are not my friends, I am not their boss, we are a team, but I am the team leader. We can get along famously, but I don't have to be a dictator, or their friend.

3.) I do not need to impress anyone with my riding, ability, or knowledge.

4.) If I am unsure about something, I must ask for clarification.

That's all!

My Favorite Riding Song.

On occasion, I will ride with earbuds in, as long as I have good ponies that day. This song is excellent for long hacks, galloping, et cetera. Florence + The Machine makes my blood pump quickly, and feel so electric and alive.

Trust me on this one, it's mathematical.

Sweet Pea.

Sweet Pea is an 11 year old Arab x Welsh eventing pony. She came to my trainer just after she had her baby with problematic manners and food issues. She was ridden at the beginner novice level by a girl who practically ruined her.

Since then, she has become a lesson pony to my trainer and my students, and is the primary horse I ride.

She's a real doll. <3

Dozer <3

Dozer is owned by the lady who so generously allows us to school and teach at her barn/arena.

He's a total love bug.

Aww!

Drawing on his boot-ay!
